What Our Calculators Can and Can't Do
A few specific limitations worth knowing about before you rely on a result:
- Tax calculators: These don't model all AMT scenarios, don't capture every state/local tax situation, and assume the standard deduction unless you enter itemized inputs. If your tax situation is complex, treat our results as a starting point.
- Mortgage calculators: We show principal + interest. Actual loan costs vary by lender — origination fees, points, HOA dues, and exact escrow amounts aren't included. Get a Loan Estimate from a real lender before committing.
- Retirement calculators: We use a default 7% return assumption based on historical averages. Future returns aren't guaranteed, and we don't model sequence-of-returns risk. The real world is messier than any projection.
- Investment calculators: Results are pre-tax. Taxes on capital gains and dividends within taxable accounts aren't factored in.
Our Content Is Our Property
Everything we've built on USAFinCalc — the calculator code, methodology docs, articles, data tables, design — belongs to us. You're welcome to share short quotes with attribution and a link back. For anything commercial or republication, reach out at partnerships@usafincalc.com.
Your Responsibilities When Using This Site
Using USAFinCalc means you understand that you're responsible for the inputs you enter, how you interpret the results, and any decisions you make from them. We give you tools — not advice. Verify important numbers with a qualified professional before major financial decisions.
We May Update These Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms. When we do, the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page changes, and the new terms take effect immediately. Continued use of the site after an update means you accept the revised terms.
