Calculator Data — 0 Stored
Every number you type into a USAFinCalc calculator (income, mortgage amount, tax details, etc.) is processed entirely in your browser. Nothing you enter is sent to our servers.
- No account or sign-up required to use any calculator
- No calculation input is transmitted, logged, or stored by us
- Close the tab and there's no record of what you calculated
Advertising Data — Third-Party Cookies Apply
To keep calculators free, this site shows ads via Google AdSense and includes affiliate links. Those third parties may set cookies to measure ad performance or personalize ads, separately from anything you calculate.
- Google AdSense may use cookies for ad personalization — how Google uses this data
- Affiliate links (e.g. TurboTax, Betterment) may track clicks for referral commissions
- You can opt out of personalized ads — see links below
In short: calculator use is private by design — the math never leaves your device. Ad display is not private by default — Google and our affiliate partners can set their own cookies per their own privacy policies, which we don't control. Both things are true on the same page, which is why we describe them separately rather than under one blanket claim.
1. Information We Do NOT Collect
USAFinCalc calculators run entirely client-side in your browser using JavaScript. We have no server that receives your calculation inputs. The following data is never transmitted to us:
- Your income, salary, or financial details
- Tax calculation inputs or results
- Mortgage amounts or property values
- Retirement account balances or contribution amounts
- Social Security numbers or personal identifiers
- Any financial data you enter into any calculator
2. Information We DO Collect
2.1 Analytics Data (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people use our site. This collects anonymized data including:
- Pages visited and time spent on each page
- Which calculators are used (not what values you entered)
- General geographic region (country/state level, not precise location)
- Browser type, device type, and screen size
- Referral source (how you found our site)
This data is anonymized and aggregated. Google Analytics IP anonymization is enabled. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
2.2 Email Newsletter (Voluntary)
If you subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address to send monthly finance digests. You can unsubscribe at any time via the link in any email. We use a third-party email service provider (ESP) and do not sell email addresses to third parties.
2.3 Contact Form Submissions
If you use our contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message content. This information is used solely to respond to your inquiry and is not used for marketing.
3. Cookies
We use the following cookies:
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _ga, _ga_* | Google Analytics — distinguishes unique users | 2 years |
| _gid | Google Analytics — distinguishes users within 24 hrs | 24 hours |
| fc_tb_hidden | Remembers if you've dismissed the top banner | Session |
We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
4. Third-Party Services
Our site integrates with these third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Google Analytics 4 — Google Privacy Policy
- Google Fonts — Font files loaded from Google servers (Google may log requests)
- Affiliate Partners (TurboTax, Betterment, etc.) — When you click affiliate links, those sites have their own privacy policies. We do not share your data with them.
5. Advertising
We display advertising via Google AdSense to support our free calculators, and we include affiliate links (e.g. TurboTax, Betterment). These are third-party services with their own cookies and privacy policies — see "Calculator Data vs. Advertising Data" above and the AdSense section below for details on how to opt out of ad personalization.
6. Your Rights (CCPA / GDPR)
California residents (CCPA): You have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
EEA/UK residents (GDPR): You have the right to access, correct, port, and erase your personal data. Our legal basis for processing analytics data is legitimate interest. To exercise any rights, contact us.
7. Data Retention
- Analytics data: Retained for 14 months in Google Analytics, then deleted automatically.
- Newsletter emails: Retained until you unsubscribe.
- Contact form messages: Retained for 12 months, then deleted.
8. Children's Privacy
USAFinCalc is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
Our site is served over HTTPS. Since we don't receive your financial data, there is no sensitive financial data on our servers to protect. Contact form submissions are transmitted securely.
10. Changes to This Policy
We will post updates to this policy on this page with a new "Last updated" date. Significant changes will be announced via our newsletter.
11. Contact
For privacy questions or rights requests: privacy@usafincalc.com or use our contact form.
Ads and Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense to keep the site free. AdSense may use cookies to show ads based on your browsing history — these are Google's cookies, not ours, and we don't control them. We don't pass any personally identifiable information to Google for this purpose.
If you'd rather not see personalized ads, you can adjust that at Google Ads Settings or install the Google Analytics Opt-out Add-on.
California Residents (CCPA)
If you're in California, you have specific rights under the CCPA: you can ask what data we have about you, request deletion, and opt out of data sales. For what it's worth, we don't sell personal data — but the right exists regardless. To submit a request, email privacy@usafincalc.com and we'll respond within 45 days.
How Long We Keep Data
We keep things only as long as needed:
- Analytics data: 14 months via Google Analytics default, then auto-deleted
- Newsletter emails: Until you unsubscribe
- Contact form messages: 12 months, then deleted
- Calculator inputs: Never stored — zero retention, full stop
